I  began my yoga practice in 2009. I have spent most of my life in physical fitness and bodywork. Dance, working as a healthy lifestyles counselor for the YMCA, massage therapy, and  marathon running all lead me to yoga.  For me, in the beginning, yoga was a form of recovery after a run but the overwhelming benefits of yoga was much more than I expected.  Yoga gave me physical change, mental clarity, self awareness, discipline, and focus. All that I  had done before became one thing in yoga. Bodywork training has given me a detailed eye for body mechanics. I take special care to pay attention to alignment issues that are related to injury, muscle and joint limitations as well as encouraging proper alignment to prevent injury. Becoming a yoga teacher has given me the opportunity to share my knowledge and the joy to pay witness to my students journey and exploration as they grow and change through their practice.

I received my RYT 200hrs Yoga Alliance certification from Rising Lotus Yoga in 2013 studying with Claire Hartley, Daniel Stewart and Karen Rose. In addition, I've continued my education in Restorative Yoga from Annie Carpenter and Leslie Kazadi and Yin Yoga from Melissa Christensen.  The basis of my teaching philosophy is that yoga improves all levels of fitness. My class focus is proper alignment and breath coupled with the balance of a strong flow based in Iyengar, Vinyasa, and a deep restorative.  We receive the most benefits from our practice when we work towards proper alignment,  syncing our breath with movement and most importantly having fun.
